What this site measures, and what it refuses to do

This site counts its own visits, with a tool written for it and hosted with it. No data goes to a third party, there is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no cookie banner, and that is not an oversight: it is the result of a design choice that makes consent unnecessary because there is nothing to consent to.

No cookies
Nothing is stored in your browser beyond the tab. A visit identifier is drawn at random and kept in the tab’s memory, which clears when you close it. It does not follow you from one site to another, nor from one day to the next.
No IP address kept
Your address is used once, in memory, to compute a fingerprint salted with a server secret and with the day’s date. It is written nowhere. The fingerprint cannot be reversed, and since the salt changes every day, the same person returning tomorrow counts as a new visitor. We therefore know the traffic, never the people.
What is recorded
The page viewed, when, how long you stayed on it, how far down the page you scrolled, the site you came from reduced to its domain name, the language of the page, the country, the destination of the links and buttons you click, and whether the address you asked for did not exist. Nothing else: not your name, not your address, not what you type, not your mouse position, not a single piece of data you did not put on screen yourself.
The country, not the city
The country is derived from your address at the moment of the visit, using a table kept on this server, and the address is then forgotten like everything else. No outside service is queried, so your address goes nowhere. The measurement deliberately stops at the country: behind “Germany” there are millions of possible people, whereas a city starts to point at someone.
Links clicked, not their content
The destination of every link and button is counted, including navigation from one page of the site to another, because that is what shows what visitors are looking for without finding it. Address parameters are stripped before recording, and no text you might type is ever transmitted. One exception, on arrival: if the link that brought you carried a source label such as “utm_source”, that word is kept, in order to know which link placed elsewhere works. It is a campaign name, never an identifier about you.
The device, families only
The device type, the browser family and the system family are derived from what your browser announces about itself on every page, and the window width is placed into a range before it is even sent. No version number is kept, no exact width either, and that is deliberate: a dozen precise details of that kind are enough to single out a person, which is exactly what this site refuses to do. Knowing that phones read half as far as desktops changes a decision; knowing you run Chrome 141.0.7390 changes none.
Loading speed on your device
Three speed measurements are taken by your browser while the page renders: the time to largest paint, the layout stability, and the response time to your first interaction. These are durations, in milliseconds, describing the page and not you. They serve to fix what is slow where people actually experience it, on a real device and a real network, rather than on a test machine.
Robots are not counted
Search engine robots, language model crawlers and automated browsers are rejected before anything is recorded. This is not a privacy precaution but a question of accuracy: without that filter the numbers would be wrong in an invisible way, since a robot does not look like an anomaly in a table, it looks like traffic.
Refusal is respected
If your browser sends the “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, nothing is measured and nothing is written in your browser. The server refuses those measurements on its side too, so the rule holds even if a browser misbehaves.
Ninety day retention
Measurement days are stored one file per day and deleted automatically after ninety days. Three months are enough to see a trend and compare two seasons; keeping more would extend a retention with no purpose.
Everything stays in France
The site and its measurements live on a server hosted in France by OVHcloud. No data is transferred outside the European Union, and no processor is involved in the audience measurement.

Legal basis: the publisher’s legitimate interest in knowing the traffic to their own site, under article 6.1.f of the European data protection regulation. The measurement is strictly limited to anonymous statistics for the publisher alone, with no cross referencing, no sharing and no tracking across sites, which places it within the consent exemption defined by the French data protection authority for audience measurement.

Your rights: because the measured data is anonymous, it cannot identify you, and the publisher is unable to retrieve what concerns you in order to act on it. You may nonetheless object to any measurement by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser, which is enough to stop being counted. For any question, write to the contact address above.

Booking finishes on Airbnb

This site takes no booking and handles no payment. The calendar shown is read from the platforms, and the booking link leads to the Airbnb listing, which carries the payment, the insurance and the messaging. Any data you leave there falls under Airbnb’s privacy policy, over which this site has no control.

Content and photographs

The texts and photographs on this site are the property of the publisher. Trade show dates and tourist information are taken from public sources named on each page, with the date they were checked. Trademarks mentioned, including those of the trade shows and the booking platforms, belong to their respective holders.
